Bing Crosby and Bob Hope shared a passion for golf.
They often worked in a daily round together at Lakeside while they were shooting
pictures in the 1930's and 40's. In 1937 Bing sponsored the first Pro-Am Golf
Tournament to raise money for charities. It was held at beautiful Rancho Santa
Fe, North of San Diego. Two of these tournaments were professionally
photographed and released as theatrical shorts:

"DON'T HOOK NOW"
(1942). Naturally Crosby sings two songs. Included are additional home movies of

Do you know that Hollywood was once on the side of the United States of America?
Here's a compilation of patriotic shorts made by Bing Crosby & Bob Hope.
Included here are "THE ROAD
HOME"(1945) as Bing and Bob
caution sailors not to "jump ship" before they are discharged just because the
war is over. Bing and Bob reminisce with clips from their "Road" pictures.
"COMMAND PERFORMANCE" (1944)stars Bob Hope, Jerry Colonna, June
Allyson, Gloria De Haven and Francis Langford as they entertain troops during
WW2. "THE FIFTH FREEDOM" (1951)
was produced by Chesterfield during the cold war to remind us of our American
freedom of choice. Bing sings "You're A Grand Old Flag". Also on hand are Bob
Hope, Arthur Godfrey and Perry Como. "YOU CAN
CHANGE THE WORLD" (1954) with Loretta Young, William Holden,
Jack Benny, Rochester, Paul Douglas and Irene Dunne and Bob Hope gathering at
Jack Benny's house to hear Father James Keller tell how each of us can do
something to change the world for the better. Bing sings "Early American". Bob
cracks jokes about some noisy cattle on a location shoot while Jack Benny frets
at the cost of the long distance phone call! "THE
ROAD TO PEACE"
(1949) with Bing and Ann Blyth singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" is another
patriotic inspirational film for world peace that these celebrities so often
lent their talents to.

No, "HIGH TOR" is not an unreleased Ed Wood film! It's a full-length

this is an Arthur Schwartz musical production. Also in the cast is Everett

and "Once Upon A Long Ago". Naturally business interests want to buy him out but
he won't sell. His fiancée leaves him for not selling. Some ghosts from past
ship wrecks who guard the mountain ( including Julie Andrews) materialize from

Periodically, television attempts to revive the Vaudeville-style of variety
entertainment. This particular time, it takes on a historical approach with
specific references and skits of early 20th century burlesque and vaudeville
re-creations. Such standards as "Fun In High Skool" (ala the Marx Brothers
style), "The Doctor" (in tribute to the original Sunshine Boys, Smith and Dale)
as well as the Camelot skit and various musical material from the roaring 20's
through to World War 2 era. The celebrities starring in this tribute are Sammy

PERMITTED USAGE (particularly schools, libraries, etc.)
Most tapes are fully copyrighted and sold under lease agreements from owners.
They may not be duplicated or shown in public performances. Nor may they be
broadcast over the airwaves or via cable television or through inter-net sources
without granted permission from A-1 Video and The American Heritage Media
Library. Copying tapes and packaging for resale or rental is a violation of
applicable laws. Permission can be worked out on many titles that we carry. Some
movies that are considered in the public domain are copyrighted versions. Dates
on some of these are unclear due to a lack of copyright dates. All
due effort has been made to ascertain the copyright status
of programming offered and no rights are given or implied without permission.
Although most tapes say "For Home Use Only" on their boxes, they may be in
fact rented out by video stores or loaned out to and by libraries and library patrons.
Many schools ask if it is legal for them to use copyrighted videocassettes. In the United
States, at least, the answer is YES, providing that a school shows tapes in a face-to-face
classroom situation. This means that a teacher may introduce a film as a part of a course
study and then run it on a player in the same room or auditorium. The United States
Copyright Law specifically permits this. Not permitted is the broadcast of tapes on closed
circuit TV or in "public performance" before audiences in a library, student
lounge, public bar, prison, etc. These laws are regularly modified, however and users are
advised to obtain legal information if these uses are unclear.
While we are happy to sell to foreign customers, we have no way of determining exactly
what the copyright laws or permitted usage might be in foreign countries. Permitted usage
by foreign customers is the same as in the U.S. on all A-1 Video releases. Any special
usages must be obtained in writing from A-1 Video.
