WURLITZER MUSIC
During the first half of the 20th century, most people did not have their own record players and television had not yet taken off. The chief source of inexpensive entertainment was to go to your local café or tavern and play your favorite music on a jukebox. Two films in this compilation give a view of post-war industry and marketing procedures. A visit to the Wurlitzer factory covers not only the history of Rudolph Wurlitzer and his company but also the step by step development of the model 1100 jukebox. We see the raw materials, the workmanship, quality control, etc that went into one of these beautiful machines. Also shown is a film from about 1947 on how Wurlitzer was one of the first manufacturers to help their clients promote their music in the cafes, restaurants and taverns of the day with promotional items, signs, napkins and give-aways. Today these jukeboxes and organs are collector items as well as the advertising ephemera.

A 1956 film made for the dealers of Chevron gasoline in California. It goes into extraordinary detail on all the free services you should give a customer. The second tape is a 1955 dealer promotional film on the superior performance of the Royal Master tire. Great scenes of "new" Oldsmobiles, Buicks, etc. on the road, in the snow and on the go. Finally a sales film, "Selling Lubricants" (for cars, that is!) Is a 1940 dealers film for keeping you auto in top shape.
