GOLFING COMEDIES
Well, the title does pretty much explain this format. Golf has always been a source of fun for those who ever tried to play and even for those who watch. This compilation features some of the top names in comedy doing their "best" to play golf.  In "GOLF SLAPPY", veteran Sennett comedian Eddie Gribbon plays a beleaguered husband who wants a day away from the wife and a peaceful game of golf. When the little woman drops him off at the course, he nearly forgets his clubs. It is all down hill from there!  The friend of the boss bets him he can beat Eddie's score so it is all out war! From hitting the ball off of a fat guys tummy to throwing other golfers balls out of the way, to Innocent fellow golfers getting conked on the sconce by Eddie's balls (he must have taken lessons from Gerald Ford!). All the while a narrator explains the hazards of  a disease known as " Golf-i-tis! " Very funny one reeler. Eddie Gribbon comes across like an older Chris Farley. Next, Charley Chase and Thelma Todd star in "ALL TEED OFF" (1930). Charley is invited to his new girl friend's golf club only to show up at the wrong place and runs wild through the course. W. C. Fields is, of course the master comedian at golf gags. He is seen in  "THE GOLF SPECIALIST" (1930) and "THE DENTIST" (1932). Finally, he has a guest appearance in the Bobby Jones golf short "HIP ACTION" .

THOSE TIGERS
The Detroit Tigers had never won a World Series, losing chances in 1907, 1908, 1909 and 1934. The Chicago Cubs had lost their last four series, falling in 1910, 1918, 1929 and 1932 after winning in 1907 and 1908. The fortunes of the Detroit Tigers would change in 1935, a year in which the Fall Classic matched Charlie Grimm's Chicago Cubs who had won 21 consecutive games in September, against the Tigers. Detroit won the hard way without slugging first baseman Hank Greenberg, who missed the last four games of the Series with a broken wrist. Greenberg was coming off of a remarkable season in which he slammed 36 home runs, drove in 170 runs (100 by the All-Star break) and batted .328. While neither team excelled overall, the Tigers at least (and at last!) won the World Series. In 1945, again it was Detroit vs. the Chicago Cubs.
Also included are a collection of newsreel stories on the Tigers in various games in the 1950's.Newsreel highlights along with a bonus newsreel of sports commentator Mel Allen presenting sports immortals such as babe Ruth, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Red Grange, Bobby Jones and others.
